When you can claim back your CIS tax?

tax2u Constructor

The date that you can claim back your CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) tax is the 6th April each year.

The tax year runs from the 6th April to 5th April every year. Yes, we know! They are strange dates and there is a reason but it’s really not important. You just need to know that the 6th April to 5th April is the tax year.

For tax year 6th April 2023 to 5th April 2024 the first day you can submit your tax return is 6th April 2024.

But, you if you are looking for a CIS rebate you need to make sure you have received all your CIS deduction certificates / income statements so that tax2u can include all your income and tax deducted for that tax year.

If you’ve been working up to 5th April its very unlikely that your client would have issued your final CIS deduction certifiate. It normally takes contractors an average of 3 weeks to issue the final CIS deduction certificate.

However, we can start drafting your tax return for you now and give you an idea of what tax you are likely to be paid back.

Tax2u will draft your tax return for free and all you need to do is open your online dashboard here, upload your CIS deduction certificates / payslips and business receipts (if you earnt over the tax free threshold of £12,570).

Start your tax return draft now or check our the 1,000’s of 5* reviews from our happy clients.
